  • Day 1 Cairo Attractions

    Golavita travel expert tour guide will be waiting with your name on a sign at Port Said Port to start your overnight tour to some of the top Egypt attractions. You will start with Cairo attractions. Upon arrival to Cairo, you will start your Cairo day tour with the biggest archeological Museum in the world right now.

    Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM)

    The newly opened Grand Egyptian Museum near the Giza Pyramids is the largest archaeological museum in the world. The GEM Museum is designed to house a vast collection of artifacts from the beginning of Egyptian history till the Greco-Roman era. The Grand Egyptian Museum is the only Hanging Obelisk till now in the world. Besides, the Grand Staircase with 11 statues of Senusert, the Grand Atrium, and statues of most Ptolemaic kings especially Cleopatra. Overall, the treasures of Tutankhamun are from his tomb in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor.

    Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx

    The Great Sphinx

    The famous Giza Sphinx is a huge statue with a human head and lion body measures 73 meters long and 20 meters in height. Between the paws of the Sphinx, you can see the Dream Stele for Prince Thutmose IV from the 18th Dynasty, New Kingdom.     The Catacomb of Kom El Shoqafa was considered one of the seven wonders of the Middle Ages and now it is a very famous Alexandria attraction. It dates back to the second century AD and it was used as a family tomb. Overall, the Catacomb of Kom El Shoqafa combines a mixture of Roman, Greek, and Egyptian cultures.

    Pompey's Pillar

    The Pompey Pillar is the largest monolithic column ever erected in Egypt. It is in the old Serapeum of Alexandria, a temple dedicated to the god Serapis. The Column stands for about 27 meters and is made of red granite from Aswan similar to Hatshepsut Obelisk in Karnak and you will discover it during Alexandria day tours. It was a memorial column Set up in honor of the Roman emperor Diocletian between 298 - 302 AD. Originally, there was a huge statue of Diocletian on top of the column. Also, there are some artifacts in the area such as a basin used for purification and, a black statue of basalt that dates back to the reign of Hadrian, representing the God Serapis in the shape of a bull.

    Bibliotheca Alexandrina

    The old Alexandria Library was the most famous in the classical world and housed a vast collection of scrolls and manuscripts. But the Bibliotheca Alexandrina or the modern Alexandria Library was inaugurated in 2002 as a revival of the ancient Library. The Bibliotheca Alexandrina includes several museums such as the Antiquities Museum, Manuscript Museum, Science Museum, Children Museum, and Sadat Museum.

    Qaitbay Citadel | Fort Qaitbay

    The Alexandria Citadel or the Qaitbay Citadel stands above the ruins of the ancient Alexandria lighthouse. In other words, on the eastern side of the northern tip of Pharos Island. The Citadel was built during the Reign of the Mameluke Sultan Al-Ashraf Sayf al-Din Qaitbay in the 15th century. Unfortunately, it was damaged by a series of earthquakes between 956 and 1323. At the end of your tour, we will drive you back to your cruise ship at Port Said for final departure.
